Keystone Radiology recently sent two of our senior sonographers to East Timor to provide much-needed training to local and international doctors in Dili and Maubisse.
Wayne Downie (Supervising Sonographer at High St Xray Bendigo) and Natasha Roussell (also from High St Xray) travelled to Timor Leste late in May and spent five days each at Maubisse Hospital and Bairo Pete Clinic (aka “Dr Dan’s”) in Dili.
Much of their time was spent providing hands-on training in basic ultrasound techniques for both Timorese and international doctors, and also performing a range of ultrasound examinations that wouldn’t otherwise have been available to these local communities.
This project was arranged through the Bendigo Maubisse Friendship Committee, with which we are very proud to be associated. We expect that this will be the first of many such visits to East Timor for Keystone Radiology staff.
